The city and the cars that killed it
Here I am,
Detroit.
I'm over here, in my cozy suburban home,
the lake is a block away.
Tomorrow afternoon I will climb in my Ford,
and I will get onto I-94.
I will drive right by you,
30 miles until I reach the next cozy suburb.
There I will spend a memorable evening with family and friends.
There I leave something important behind.
It will be like it has been for all my life.
When the evening has passed, I will climb back in my Ford,
and get right back on I-94,
And drive right by you again,
Detroit.
